Career Exploration
Transform your future with career exploration and technical training or prepare for college with work-based learning right here at FHS!
Student groups in agriculture (FFA), business (BPA, DECA), healthcare (HOSA) and the trades (SkillsUSA) provide opportunities for leadership and competition. Get real work experience at the Southside Coffee Shop, the Kalispell Student Built Home, in culinary arts or operating heavy equipment. Within FHS classes, students can receive credit in early childhood care and welding; certification in CPR, ServSafe Food Service, National Tractor Safety, OSHA 10 & S/P2 Pollution Prevention and Automotive Service Excellence; and apprentice hours in the building trades.
Contact SD5 Work-Based Learning Director Mike Kelly for information about internships for school credit (kellymi@sd5.k12.mt.us. (406)751-3500 x3503).
Ask your counselor about classes and watch for apprenticeship, trade school and employer visits to the career center! Explore potential careers by taking the ASVAB aptitude test (fall and spring at FHS) and checking the websites listed here.
